Wire mesh demisters are widely used when the separation of liquid particles entrained in a gas stream is required.
These demisters are made by layering several sheets of wire mesh to form a cellular structure designed to capture liquid droplets. The wire mesh used is woven from very fine wires (normally with a diameter of less than 0.3 mm), allowing a structure with a high free volume (often exceeding 95%), a large active surface area and, at the same time, a low packing density, thereby enabling significant material savings.
Wire mesh demisters are widely used:

- To remove liquid particles that could damage a production process.
- To prevent problems in a plant.
- To eliminate emissions that are harmful to the environment.
- To recover valuable and reusable liquids.

Accessories
Wire mesh demisters are often supplied with accessories such as frames, lifting devices and fastening systems made from any type of round bar, tube, sheet metal or other profile. The most common accessories are:
- Support grids for retaining the wire mesh pad.
- Welded wire mesh used to contain the wire mesh within the retaining grids.
- Elements for fastening systems such as L-shaped tie rods, J-shaped tie rods and fastening wire.
- Surface treatment: any welded component can be treated with a passivation process to remove all welding residues and prevent corrosion caused by an aggressive environment.
