This type of internals is a special type of vane pack used to break up foam that may form inside the vessel while also calming the gas flow. It is often installed between a flow rectifier and a vane pack or wire mesh demister.
One beneficial effect of the rectifier is the preliminary coarse separation of liquid droplets from the gas flow. The rectifier usually covers the entire vessel diameter, while its other characteristics (vane type, thickness, vane spacing, etc.) can be designed according to the specific process requirements.
